North Portland, Maine
Once a glorious white marble and concrete building, the Town Hall barely stands upright in the heart of the city. All of the towers and beautifully decorated domes have collapsed in on themselves, while its once luminous exterior has now darkened and cracked with age. The entire left wing is inaccessible, as it has been reduced to nothing more than a pile of rubble. It is located in the northern part of Portland. |
|
| |
This hidden gem is across the street from the town hall, but now it's barely even visible from its crumbling steps. Trees have rooted through the asphalt, tearing through and thickening until the library was hidden from sight. The ancient bricks have cracked, while stained glass windows have completely shattered. The rows of shelving that once housed books decayed and splintered, and over time there was a thick coating of dirt and mold until the citizens of the Maw rescued what books could be salvaged. The remains of the library are located in northern Portland. |

Once polluted and dirty, Casco Bay is now a clean, glittering expanse of water that boasts a large population of saltwater creatures. It is a literal feast for the animals and humans that live in the area. Beaches decorate its craggy shores, while the formerly massive shipping warehouses have collapsed into shambles. There are a few white-washed ones that are still barely standing, but even they have caved in roofs and crumbling walls. There are probably a few supplies in here, and what hasn't been raided has been hidden well. The bay is located in the eastern part of Portland. |

Its formal name is the East Bay Zoogenic Research Center and Laboratory. This is located several blocks away from the bay, but close enough to the ocean that people can still taste the salt on their lips. It is a large, sprawling facility that is throttled by vines and creeping plants, with an extremely large oak tree that shoots up from the center of the buildings. It was once known for being the highlighted producer of cosmetic and physical gene edits for general consumers and the military alike. It is referred to the 'Bay of Pigs' mockingly, but it really is easier to say. These facilities are located in the eastern part of Portland. |

This is a slumbering giant in the southern part of the city and is probably one of the most intact buildings left from before and during the evacuation of the city. This sprawling gray complex was looted out by the Maw when they came creeping out of their bunkers, who had taken pretty much the entire supply of usable items. Many of its stairways are blocked by crumbling doors and caved in walls, while its upper floors are extremely fragile due to it continuing to stand for nearly a thousand years or more. |

Two miles south of Mercy General Hospital, is the abandoned second compound. The people who resided in this bleak area were driven out by the masses of Lamia that attacked, as there are dead bodies of humans and the horrible creatures alike that litter the ground. Now, wholly inhabited by Lamia, it is an extremely dangerous place to venture to. However, the number of supplies underneath this place holds draws the attention of a lot of people. Not very many people have managed to escape alive. |

SO, THIS IS THE MAW
A few of the buildings on the surface are used for storage. The blacksmith and kennels are also located on the surface with the guard towers. It is surrounded by a terrifying assortment of fences. Barbed wire surrounds the compound, with metal spikes interweaved throughout the entire fence. It is constantly guarded, and looks quite like a basic military complex. |

This is where everyone sleeps. Gray-walled and relatively bland, the barracks are simple. One bedroom can hold up to six adult people, due to them building beds on top of one another. These 'bunk beds' are made of metal, while their straw mattresses usually have a light blanket. If there is a couple, they end up sleeping wrapped around each other to gain some warmth. |

This is where the higher ups of the military come here to gather and go over an old map they found. Using sharpened sticks, they mark points on the maps to find out where to go next. They also use this room to mark Lamia gathering points, plan attacks, and figure out where supplies are in the different collapsed buildings. |

The lounge is a communal recreational room for others to hang out and chat with each other. There are several shelves stacked with handmade games, and there's even a moldy card pack in there with them. There's not a lot to do unless you enjoy dog-piling, talking to each other, or have flexing contests. |

A communal dining room with a connecting kitchen, this is where everyone sits down to eat. When people make meals, it's usually made by people who decide to cook. It's a random process, so the meal selections can be odd. With the few cooking supplies they have, they rely on the packages sent over from Ashwatch to feed everyone. |

Every book that was able to be salvaged from the library across from the Town Hall was rescued and restored. Now, they're being stored in the library down in the halls of the Maw. While it isn't particularly large, some of these books are nearly a thousand years old, and have been restored to the point where they can actually be read. |

AND THE TREE-DWELLERS
These homes are unique, and solidly built among the top branches of the towering oaks and maples. The homes are circular, spacious, and sometimes are multi-leveled. They are intricately woven vine and wooden homes, connected by stable bridge systems. If someone wants to stay all day in the trees, they would be able to. The bridges will always lead to the central building that houses the Council and the smaller building nearby that houses the Witchdoctor. |

This is where the people of Ashwatch gather. It's a large, communal building that houses a few bookshelves. These bookshelves house the books they borrow from the Maw, and there are a few games for the children and a moldy pack of cards on a table for people to play with. Generally, people just hang around to talk and have fun with. There are also some boasting competitions, like who can eat the most or last the longest at a particular game. |

This is where they eat, where they rarely go short of food. The cooks here are selected for their skill at cooking, much unlike the Maw, where people cook when they like. Occasionally, those who want to cook or bake will be given a chance to feed people. |

This is their tavern, where they can drink home-brewed spirits and generally have a good time. The local bounty hunters and collectors hang around the tavern as well, because the people of Ashwatch would probably like to go on missions to keep their people supplied. |

Beneath the tree buildings and stretched over 180 acres, are the fields that are stripped bare of trees. All of the food and supplies that go to the Maw are taken from the large assortment of crops and the animals they rear. From chickens to sheep to cows to pigs, their fields are enormous and surrounded by wooden fencing. |

Beneath the the surface of the fields, there is a massive compound that sprawls out and houses the supplies that is taken from the Maw. A clever pulley system from one of the bridges hoists people from the nests to the forest floor and back up. There are a few crumbling, abandoned buildings that still remain on the surface as well. These house the weapons they receive, while all of the precious metals go beneath the surface. |
